Commercial RO Plant: 25, 50 or 100 LPH?

Commercial RO Plant Buying Guide: 25, 50 or 100 LPH – Which Size Do You Need?

Offices, schools, clinics, restaurants and small shops often outgrow a domestic purifier. A commercial RO plant gives much higher output and is built to run for longer hours. The key decision is the size – measured in LPH.

What does LPH mean?

LPH means litres per hour of purified water under normal operating conditions. A 25 LPH plant running 8 hours gives about 200 litres a day; a 50 LPH plant about 400 litres; a 100 LPH plant about 800 litres. Real output drops with cold water and very high input TDS.

Calculate your daily water need

A simple rule: number of people × litres per person per day. For drinking only, plan for about 3–4 litres per person; if the water is also used for cooking or tea, plan more.

PlaceTypical usersSuggested plant

School section, coaching centre, mid-size office50–100 people50 LPH
Restaurant, factory canteen, large school100–250 people100 LPH
Choose one size up if your input water TDS is high or you need water ready at peak times.

What to check before buying

  • Input water TDS and source – borewell water with high TDS needs a plant rated for it and good pre-filtration.
  • Pre-filtration – sediment and carbon stages (often jumbo 20 inch housings) protect the membranes.
  • UV stage – useful where water is stored for longer.
  • Frame – a stainless steel or powder-coated frame lasts longer in wet areas.
  • Storage tank – commercial plants usually fill a separate storage tank; plan its size to cover your peak demand.
  • Space, power and drain – you need a wall or floor area, a power point and a drain line for reject water.

Running costs to plan for

  • Sediment and carbon cartridges – replaced every few months depending on water quality.
  • Membranes (for example 300 GPD elements) – typically every 1–2 years.
  • Occasional pump, solenoid valve and fitting replacement.
  • Electricity for the pump and UV lamp.

Frequently asked questions

How much water does a 25 LPH RO plant give per day?

About 200 litres in 8 hours of running, depending on water temperature and TDS.

Does a commercial RO waste water?

Yes, like all RO systems it sends some water to the drain. The reject water can be reused for cleaning or gardening with salt-tolerant plants.

Can I install a commercial RO plant myself?

Basic wall-mounted plants can be fitted by a handy person, but for plumbing and electrical safety a technician is recommended.
